The Diary of an Optimistic Girl

Words You Spoke

If the words you spoke appeared on your skin, would you still be beautiful?

I often wonder how differently we would speak if our words left visible marks. If every cruel remark became a scar, if every insult darkened the skin, and if every careless comment lingered on our bodies long after it left our mouths. Would you still be so quick to speak?

Words are strange things. They weigh nothing when they leave us, yet they can become burdens someone carries for years. A sentence spoken in anger may take only seconds to say, but a wounded heart can spend a lifetime trying to forget it. I hope you realized that not every thought deserves a voice and not every opinion deserves an audience. Can’t you see? The world already carries enough pain without us adding to it.

Your words matter, yes. The ones you choose and the ones you choose not to speak. But, if you already know your words are meant to wound, humiliate, or diminish another person, perhaps silence is the kinder choice.

I just hope you choose your words carefully. Because while they may disappear from your lips, they often remain on someone else's heart. And if the words you spoke appeared on your skin, I wonder—

would you still recognize the person staring back at you? 6b7609769c45d9f02810e6c09ae98412
